It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jessie Joanne Hermary on the morning of March 17, 2021 at St. Anne’s hospital after her brief journey with cancer. Joanne will be deeply missed and is survived by her daughter Kimberley (Marcel); son Lindsay; daughter Jodie (Darrell); foster son Keith; grandchildren Jessie (Patrick), Jordan, Mackenzie, Brandon, Karley and Payton; great grandson Torey; as well as her loving dog Frankie. Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband Roy; son Tyler; brother Gordon; and mother and father Jessie and Joseph Lindsay. Joanne’s tenacity, passion and determination resulted in a career as a fashion model, followed by 60 years working in the hairstyling industry. Forty-five of those years, she worked tirelessly building her own company previously known as Tino’s Beauty Salon followed by Shear Attraction. Joanne did this while raising four children as well as fostering a child. Joanne enjoyed the company of employees and her many clients making for a warm, loving environment filled with constant laughter. Joanne and her daughters were blessed with the opportunity to work beside each other throughout the years. Joanne, also known as Bammie to her grandkids, she was the light of their hearts. Often teasing them and joking with them, and even jumping in the pool after them. She loved sitting by the pool, watching her grandkids swim and planning her next yard project. Joanne had a warm heart that enveloped the people she loved and to quote her grandkids, “Bammie is unlike any other; simply one of a kind”. Joanne loved going to a different greenhouse every spring and going for Sunday drives. She enjoyed having brunch at Pineridge Hollow with, of course, the ever so delicious, blackberry sangria. You were never surprised to see her hauling loads of rock in her wheelbarrow or cutting her own grass, she even painted her own home. Joanne was extremely self-sufficient and often stubborn in terms of doing things she probably should not be doing. This innate strength in her character is forever a reminder to those who knew her, to just get things done! This strength will be held on tightly for so many of us. Conversations before mom passed away included that she would like Roma tomatoes planted for her in her yard. It was an amazing experience to see her strength hugging each grandchild and family member before leaving for the hospital. A gift for each one of us given personally will forever be cherished. Mom took time for everyone with little messages of ‘be good ok, goodbye and I love you ‘! These are all extraordinary examples of the wonderful soul she was. Her words to us were to think for ourselves; be the better person in tough situations; pay attention to the little things; take care of each other; know that I am always with you; and, I will see you when I see you. To mention a few of the many qualities Joanne possessed would be a positive attitude, great fashion and style, a warm heart, a very hard worker and she loved creating a beautiful yard and garden. It was her joy to bake her signature birthday cakes for her family and spending time with family and friends. Joanne had an essence of home for all who knew her and will remain forever in our hearts.
