Obituary of Brenda Jane Nock

Brenda Jane Nock (née Semchyshyn), aged 62, passed away in her daughter's arms on January 27, 2025 at HSC in Winnipeg MB, after a life filled with love, strength, and resilience. She endured hardships that many wouldn't understand, but they forged her into a woman with an unbreakable spirit and a heart full of love.

From an early age, she embraced life with a sense of adventure and joy. She and her sister Bernice spent childhood summers in Winnipegosis and Fork River, where they raided their babas' gardens, played dress-up in the grainery, and rode their bicycles together for hours. Those early days of laughter and exploration helped define the woman she would become -strong-willed, free-spirited, and full of love for the people around her.

She was a devoted mother, always striving to be the best she could be, and it showed in the unwavering love and encouragement she gave to her family. Stubborn when she needed to be, yet wise enough to let things go when it mattered most, she carried herself with a quiet strength that left a lasting impact on those around her.

Her charisma was undeniable - she had an energy that made people feel at ease. She loved music, especially Fleetwood Mac, and when she was in good health, she could often be found dancing with her girlfriends. She also loved tropical getaways, making beautiful memories in Mexico with her sister Bernice and her daughter Heather, filling their trips with adventure, great food, and laughter. Whether it was turning up the music and speeding down the highway on a shopping trip to Edmonton with Heather, or simply enjoying a good conversation, she embraced life with enthusiasm.

Her career path was as dynamic as she was. Before running her own accounting business for over 25 years, she worked as a hairstylist and a driving instructor. No matter what she pursued, she brought passion and dedication to everything she did.

She is survived by her loving daughter Heather Waterous (Jeffrey), parents Peter and Diana Semchyshyn, sister Bernice (Warren), brother Lyle (Laura), and three nephews and a niece. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing healthcare team at Health Sciences Centre, specifically within the Medical Intensive Care Unit, for their compassionate care and support.
