Obituary of Kelly Edward Archibald
On February 10, 2025 at the age of 77 years, Kelly Archibald passed away peacefully at home in his sleep.
Kelly was born on Augst 29, 1947 to Edward James Archibald and Sheila Mary (Handley) Archibald in Hamiota, MB. Along with his five siblings he grew up on the family farm in Kinsmore District, MB. Kelly was educated at the Lenore School in Lenore, MB. and the Virden High School in Virden, MB.
Kelly returned to the farm in February 1974 and married Sherrie Werner (Archibald) August 9, 1977. They continued to farm until 1979.
In 1982 he was presented a certificate for achievement and excellence after completing a Telecommunications Technician course at Assiniboine Community College Brandon, MB. May 12, 1980 Kelly started work for CP Railway. He qualified in the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic trade in 1989. He and Sherrie moved to Kenora, Ontario in 1995, and his title was Grade 1 Maintainer M/W shop. He retired on November 1, 2008.
Kelly spent his retirement enjoying life with Sherrie at their home on Muriel Lake, ON. He loved all animals especially dogs who were always invited to nap with him on the couch. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler. Winter weekends were often spent with family and friends cruising the lakes and country trails.
He enjoyed working on computers, vehicles and anything with a motor, often customizing to make things work better his way. He never stopped learning new things. Kelly looked forward to all visitors, enjoying conversation and company at anytime.
He is survived by his wife Sherrie of 47 years, his sisters Bridget(Arnold) McPhaden, Roni(Penny) West, Sherry Williams, brother Darcey Archibald and extended family members and friends.
Donations in his name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, The Kidney foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada or a Charity of Choice.
