Obituary of Jean Mary Anderson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother and great-grandmother Jean Mary Anderson (Kierstead) on March 24th, 2025 at the age of 76.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Joyce Kierstead. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters Christine (Jerry), Tracy (Paul); her grandsons Kyle, Matthew (Tyler); and her great-granddaughter Lylah. Mom is also survived by her siblings: Lynn (Cliff), Roy (Gayle), Gail (Steve) and their children and extended families.

Mom was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on September 7th, 1948. Growing up a child of a military member, she lived and was educated in Europe and Canada ultimately settling in Ontario.  The late 1960s to early 1970s brought Mom to Manitoba where she lived in many small towns until finally making Winnipeg home in 1980 until her passing.

Throughout her working career Mom held a variety of jobs, but her pride and joy was owning JMA Enterprise for over 17 years and making valued friendships along the way. In her spare time Mom could often be found in the kitchen whipping up favourite treats, crocheting, reading or spending time outdoors. Family and her pets were very near and dear to her heart.

Jean’s strength was undeniable and her love never-ending. May she be remembered for all the lives she touched with her love, kindness, and selflessness. While our hearts ache in her absence, we take comfort knowing she is reunited with family and friends, and will watch over us with the same love and care she always showed.

Our family would like to thank the staff and care team at HSC for their care and support during Mom’s stay there.

At her request, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.
