David Burwell

Obituary of David Alan Burwell

David Alan Burwell, has passed away at the early age of 55, March 16, 2025, at Health Science Centre.

He is predeceased by his mother and father, Janet Burwell and Thomas Burwell.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Burwell, and two daughters, Jennifer Burwell and Amanda Burwell; as well as his sisters Leigh Stubel and Elizabeth Burgos and their families.

David was born in The Pas, and grew up from Terrace BC, Fort Nelson BC, to Stonewall MB, and Garson MB.

He enjoyed the military from an early age, joining the cadets, and evidently becoming a pilot for the Canadian Armed Forces in his early 20's.

He married Sheila November 1996, with whom he had two daughters, Jennifer and Amanda. He later became an electrician in 2012. He loved it just as much as flying in the sky.

David wasn't just a husband and father. He was a rascal, at least to his younger sisters. And the high school washroom he blew up during chemistry, I'm sure they have not forgotten. Was it the two story window he jumped out of? Sparky. That was his nickname. Fitting, seeing as how he became an electrician in the end.  Boy did he love traveling across Canada with that job.

David's only love more than family and flying, was the outdoors and fishing. He woke the kids before the sun, just to catch attitudes and weeds, but he loved it anyways. He loved a sunrise and a sunset, the green of summer and the quiet of winter. He was impulsive and energetic for more in life. Always chasing a new hobby or interest, as if he didn't have enough collections back home. We wish he had more time to reach those dreams of his, as well as make more memories with everyone around him.

He will be forever missed by those that knew him both a short time and a long time. His memory will continue to influence others around him, as well as inspire. Death doesn't have to be a horrible thing. It can remind us of memories we thought were forgotten, it can mend relationships, it can bring us closer together, it can heal, it can have a purpose.
