Sharon was predeceased by her parents Victor and Clara Vickner; and brother Ronnie Vickner.
Sharon was born at the Pine Falls Hospital February 8, 1942.
Her greatest love was her family beginning with her parents and siblings. Her first home was in Old Pinawa, then on to Lac du Bonnet in 1947. As a child she loved to explore the outdoors and had a real love for animals. Her favorite as a child was her cat Thumper.
She enjoyed school and friends in Lac du Bonnet. In 1953 the family moved to Winnipeg and made home at 34 Home Street. Sharon fell in love with her lifelong sweetheart Melvin, and they were married July 30, 1960. Keith arrived in 1962, Lori in 1965. Her life as a mother began, she supported her children with school activities, Keith to hockey and football and Lori to baseball. They enjoyed many trips to the record and music stores, all in the heart of Transcona.
Sharon and Melvin purchased their beautiful forever home on Knowles Avenue in 1978. Sharon loved Bingo game outings with her sister Carol and sister-in-law Adele. She always had a wonderful sense of humor and a keen quick wit. Family get-togethers were always a highlight during the holidays. Amazing Ukrainian food in abundance was always shared and made with love by her sisters-in-law Shirley, Julie, and Dianne. A game of cards, Yahtzee, or a Marble game was always on the go.
Sharon was a great cook, loved to crochet afghan blankets and supplied her family with dish cloths. Brandy, the family dog always by her side. Sharon worked at Old Dutch in her younger years, but it was Merchants Consolidated in Transcona where she shined. Many great friends were made over the decade she worked there. Next, was Homecare, she was fondly loved by all her clients.
Melvin and Sharon loved to travel and many happy driving trips were taken to the U.S. They managed to visit almost every state. Las Vegas, Nevada was her favorite. Bus trips to Casino's were too.
Her first grandchild arrived in 1991, and she was the Best Grandma Ever...hunting for treasures, car rides to Lockport, and she always had a treat in her pocket. And talk about bragging... she loved and supported all three of her grandkids.
Melvin and Sharon took great care of their yard and home. Planting plenty of flowers, making a bountiful garden each year through their Golden Years. Everyone in the family was gifted from the Harvest each year and we loved the best pickled beets and dill pickles.
She loved country music, when you popped in for a visit it was always playing in the background.
Just recently, this summer Sharon became a Great Grandmother to Teganne, this really filled her heart and she was so proud...
A private family gathering will be held this summer to celebrate Sharon's life and bring her to her final resting place.
She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.....
