Obituary of Gladys Eleanor Holmes

On April 6, 2025, Gladys passed away at Middlechurch Home. She is survived by her son Andrew (Phyllis); brother Ted and sister Eleanor Link (Ralph); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother Anne and father Edward; sister Kay Brunner; sister-in law Marj; sister Irene Sveinson; and brother-in-law Cliff Sveinson.

Gladys worked as a secretary for the Federal Government from late teens until her retirement in 1995.

Gladys loved all animals, especially cats, taking in and caring for many a stray cat. She had a lot of fun going to the horse races at Polo Park and The Downs in earlier years. In summer months she enjoyed fishing at Kenora with her son.

She became an avid JETS fan in later years. She enjoyed gardening, sharing flowers and veggies with friends and family. She made many lovely petit point pieces. Gladys was generous and thoughtful, faithfully remembering special occasions and birthdays of her many relatives.
