Obituary of Victoria Marie Kost

Unexpectedly on April 30, 2025, Victoria (Vicky) Kost sadly passed away in her home just short of her 89th birthday.

Vicky enjoyed working at the family’s market garden vegetable stands in Winnipeg and on Henderson Highway (Smitty’s Vegetables) for most of her life with her brother Bill and partner Bob. She enjoyed the entire process of springtime greenhouse seeding, planting in the fields, harvesting, and selling the product up to Halloween every year.

She would spend her winters off planning the next season’s start-up and produce selection with Bill and Bob. The vegetable stand was where she spent her time, told stories, and had good laughs with many of Smitty's long-time customers. All of her family members knew they could always find her there until she retired.

Vicky will be sadly missed by Bob, her loving partner of more than 50 years, along with her brother Bill and her sister Margaret; sons Ronald and Donald (Ruby); daughters Heather and Jackie; grandchildren Alyssa, Alannah (Reid), Colton, Sharon, Sheila, Kira-Lyn, Kaitlyn, Donovan, and Devon; great grandchildren Ellie and Lyra; and many nieces and nephews.

Vicky was predeceased by her parents Nicolas and Mary; brothers Frank, Walter, Alex, and Edward; and sisters Anne and Julie.

As per Vicky’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held and cremation has taken place.
