Obituary of Brant McFadyen
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brant A. McFadyen on April 30, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brant left this life with peace and dignity, surrounded by his family at Riverview Health Centre.
Brant was born February 19, 1947, in Deloraine, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in the district of Croll, north of Boissevain, Manitoba. He was the second youngest of nine children born to Lorne and Ena (Harvie) McFadyen.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Ena, his sister Barbara Ratcliffe, and brothers Awdrie, Cameron, and Darryl.
He is survived by his brothers Harvie, Ray and Dann, and his sister Carole Paradis; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Brant learned early on the value of hard work, humility, and love—principles that guided his everyday life. Brant spent his early years working on the family farm alongside his parents and siblings. There his passion for agriculture and farm equipment started to grow. His strong work ethic shaped both his character and his professional journey. On leaving home in 1965, he moved to Dauphin to work at Dennison Motors in the autobody department.
In 1973 Brant moved his family to Calgary, Alberta where he took up employment as a Sales Representative for Hamamy Sales.
On May 17, 1969, Brant married the love of his life, Diane McGregor of Dauphin, and together they built a life full of joy, devotion, and purpose. Their 55-year union was one of mutual respect and unwavering commitment. Brant cherished Diane until his final breath, reminding his family of how much he appreciated her caring devotion right to the end.
Brant was a proud and loving father to his children Tyler (Rhonda Mutch), Farrah (Jarett Wilson), Melissa (Bryson Alexander) and Glenda (Peter Phillips). He was also a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren, Brady (Savannah), Britney; Aurora, Titus; Ava, Logan; Giselle and Keira, who brought him endless joy and pride. His family was his greatest treasure.
Brant was a deeply spiritual man. He spent much of his time working as an elder to support his local congregation and raising his children to develop their own bond with God. After retiring, he spent his days alongside his beloved wife, joyfully preaching and teaching about God’s Kingdom.
Brant enjoyed traveling with Diane and his family over the years. Those opportunities created meaningful adventures and memories for the whole family. He was known for his dry sense of humour, quiet demeanor, strong sense of justice, devotion to his family and his ability to organize and delegate responsibilities.
We are thankful for the kindness and care provided by the doctors and staff at Cancer Care, as well as the Palliative Care Program, while at home and at Riverview Health Centre. Brant’s legacy of love, faith, and integrity will continue to inspire those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB.
Thank you to Don Hyatt for officiating the funeral.
