Obituary of Yiu Lee
On April 29, 2025, Yiu Lun Lee passed away peacefully at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with a rare brain and spinal tumour.
Yiu is survived by his daughters, Lauren and Chelsea; his sister, Susan; his nieces, Kanisha, Rachel, and Madeline, and his partner, Terence.
He was predeceased by his father Kwok Hung Lee (passed April 14, 1984 at 52 years), his mother Choi Ho Tam (passed July 18, 1991 at 50 years), and his brother Yiu Keung (Jimmy) Lee (passed September 29, 2021 at age of 57).
Yiu was born September 4th,1959 in Hong Kong. Then, in 1974, he arrived in Canada with his parents, brother and sister to start a new life. Yiu attended Technical Vocational High School, where he earned both academic and sports achievements, graduating in 1981.
During his career in the electrical supply industry, he worked for many companies over 46 years, creating life-long friendships and connections. Most recently, he worked in inside sales at Robertson Electric, where he was respected for his positive attitude, reliability and kindness.
Outside of work, Yiu gave generously of his time and spirit. He was especially proud to coach Special Olympics bowling, where his patience, encouragement, and good humour left a lasting impact on the athletes and their families. He will be remembered for his calm presence, steady support, and unwavering care for those around him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Yiu’s name to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or Special Olympics Manitoba.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg at 603 Wellington Crescent. All who knew him are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of his life.
