Obituary of Johnny Leslie Berens
It is with incredibly profound and thee heaviest of hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our most beloved Husband, Father and Grand/Great Grandfather John.
John (Butch) was unexpectedly called home to Jesus, early Sunday morning, with his loving wife and daughter by his side. He leaves behind his wife Shirley; three children Amanda and Jason, Amy and Brad, Courtney and Christine; seven grandchildren Daphne (Mattias), Colby, Mackinley, Elijah, Geneava (Duncan), Orianna (Jeremiah), Cadence; one great grandson and great-grand baby on the way Waylon and baby.
John (Butch) was and is loved by many! Family, Friends, and acquaintances….
He will be missed by ALL! The Man the Myth the Legend! May he forever RIP.
John was married for 45 years, 20+ of which he spent working for the City of Winnipeg. He retired in 2015. John spent his down time doing what he loved, fishing, hunting, trapping, helping others, cutting grass, gardening, and spending time with his loved ones. John was a kid at heart; Papa was always a good time. Mr. Jokester and always up to something. He loved going for “rides” just simple drives to check out the country sites hoping to see some wildlife, or drive out to Sandilands to pick berries, or Lockport for ice cream…he loved his sweets which made him a great baker! Most of all he loved his wife. He made the best out of every situation and his heart was most definitely made of gold. Everyone who knew him knew that he was a very smart man, this guy knew EVERYTHING!! LOL He was also known for his Garlic!! He did not mess around!
Although he was a sick man with many different illnesses his passing was unexpected. His will to live by far exceeded most expectations and he fought until his very last breath. John’s absence will fill our hearts and the love we have for him will drip from our eyes and run down our cheeks for many moments to come. May we cherish our memories, let us all find peace in the sorrow as hard as it may be, knowing that he is no longer in the battle but rather running free with the Wolves on his Journey Home to Heaven for all Eternity.
Dad…. “We Love you to the moon and back”
The Family would like to thank the long list of health care professionals that helped him along the long journey of his illnesses. Also STARS Ambulance for their compassion and care. Donations in John’s Memory can be made to Cancer Care Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Foundation or STARS Ambulance.
