Obituary of Heather Lynn Mary Guarino

Heather Lynn Mary Guarino

June 11, 1953 - May 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and immense gratitude for her life that we announce the peaceful passing of Heather Lynn Mary Guarino on May 24, 2025, at the age of 71, following an 18-month journey with illness.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and boundless generosity, forever cherished by her beloved children and grandchildren, along with a wide circle of family and friends whose lives she touched so deeply.

Born to Ramona and Gabriel Johnson, Heather was a radiant soul whose presence lit up every room. She led with love-fierce in her loyalty, unmatched in her warmth, and always seeing the best in others. Her compassionate heart and joyful spirit made everyone feel like family.

Heather (Mom) is survived by her children: Carlie Gromek (Rich), Cassie Guarino (Jeremy), Kyle Guarino, and Charles Guarino; and her adored grandchildren: Reese, Phoenix, Heidi, Matteo, Zackary, and Zoey. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Brian Johnson (Susie), Greg Johnson (Laurie), Bev Riddoch (Don), Gail Johnson (Martin), and Ken Johnson (Jade).

In her early years, Heather worked with dedication in the kitchen at Misericordia Hospital, then moved into management at Safeway, where her work ethic and vibrant personality earned respect and admiration. She later thrived in a long and fulfilling career in sales with Adams and Mondelez Foods, where clients became dear friends through her kindness and laughter.

Heather found joy in life’s simple pleasures—skiing in the mountains, spontaneous road trips, and unforgettable “girls’ trips” to the U.S.A. She was the life of the party, whether singing karaoke, dancing, or making instant connections with strangers who became lifelong friends.

She gave selflessly, volunteering with CancerCare Manitoba, the Salvation Army, and supporting holiday toy drives for children with cancer—always lifting others with love and grace.

Even during her illness, Heather (Mom) showed incredible strength. She faced each day with courage, laughter, and unshakable love for those around her. Ever the planner, she never passed up the chance to cook a special meal or bring people together. She was, and will always be, our warrior—resilient, radiant, and full of heart.

She treasured her time with family, especially summers at Lester Beach, bonfires, dinners, and the quiet, joyful moments in between. This past summer held a special place in her heart. As she once said: “So many people don’t even get a chance for what I’ve had in my life.”

As Mom would say: “Buh-bye”

We love you forever and always. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We extend a huge thank you to all the amazing staff at Riverview Health Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, and the dedicated doctors and nurses who cared for Heather (Mom). Your patience, compassion, and support meant the world to our family. We would also like to thank Alterna Cremation for their guidance and care during this time.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Heather’s (Mom) name to CancerCare Manitoba.
