Obituary of Edmond Jacques Joseph Belanger

On November 15, 2024, Edmond Jacques Jospeh Belanger died peacefully in his sleep in his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Dad was surrounded in his home by photos of those he cherished and the many accomplishments and accolades he acquired in his 69 years.

Among the many photos of his loved ones were his parents, Jules and Simone who preceded him in passing. Left to carry his memory are his daughter Kelly (former Morgan) her daughter Olivia Rose, son Michael and his wife Awndrea and their children Ella Rain and Raven Alora. Also burdened with his passing are his brother Ron, his wife Christine, their children Douglas and Anna, his sister Claudette and brother Paul.

Dad was brilliant, charismatic, innovative, educated and determined. He was an outstanding entrepreneur, an accomplished PM and a voracious consumer of books. He loved the lake, his grandchildren.  He believed in family, tradition and respect.

During his eminent career in IT, he had many achievements.

Of a few - he helped oversee the development of  “Internet Express”, an ethernet-type card, which enabled wireless access of any platform anywhere. This instant connectivity allowed users to connect as if they were still in-office without changing their protocols.  A trail-blazing technology in its day.

This technology ultimately saw Dad work in Chile, other South American markets and the U.S.

In addition to WiLinx, Dad was an integral early developer of Date Recovery systems; working with the WRHA and University of Manitoba in the 90’s to actively restore data and develop their modern-day data storage and protection systems.

Dad’s work with overseas encryption and security system for a major fuel supplier saw him working from Qatar and the Hague as PM for multiple years.

While Dad was very proud of the endeavours and projects he had the honour to manage, participate in and develop – his proudest outcome will always be his family.
