Irene Pasley

Obituary of Irene Pasley

Peacefully with her loved ones by her side, our beautiful mom, Irene Pasley passed away on March 28, 2024, at Red River Place Personal Care Home at the age of 72 years.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Wytze ‘Dutch’ Pasley; parents Peter and Helena Klassen; sister Erna Krahn; brother-in-law Victor Krahn; brother Gordon Klassen; and sister-in-law Sandra Klassen.

She is survived by her daughters Georgett Wyryha (Morris), Ginette Rodych (Jody), grandchildren Matthew Rodych, Nicholas Rodych, and Brenda Winkler (Allan); great grandchildren Avery and Baylee Winkler; her partner Robert Lewis; brothers Ed Klassen and Albert Klassen (Marty Downie) along with many nieces and nephews.

Irene was a hard-working single mother who had many odd jobs through the years to support her family. She wanted a change, so she enrolled in a data entry course at Herzing Institute where she excelled. Mom was such a great student that when she graduated, she began her career as the data entry teacher at Herzing. She enjoyed teaching and cherished her students. In her later years she worked as an administrator at K-Tel where she enjoyed working with the music files.

Mom was very out-going, loved spending time with family as well as her fur babies. She enjoyed taking her daughters to the zoo, historical parks like Lower Fort Garry, going to Grand Forks, visiting her brother Ed in BC, as well as going to her brother Albert’s cabin in Lac Du Bonnet and her sister Erna’s cabin in Lake of the Woods. She loved going for drives with her partner Rob looking at gardens and flowers which was a passion of hers. She had a green thumb, and her yard was always bright and beautiful.

In her spare time, mom loved doing crosswords of all kinds especially cryptograms, playing cards, board games especially trivial pursuit and reading. When she and her sister Erna would get together, the scrabble board came out and we would all just stay out of their way.

In September 2021, after many tests, she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba for the resources and support they have provided our family as we undertook this journey with mom.

Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Irene’s life is planned for a later date.

Look For Me in Rainbows

Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye.

Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky.

In the morning sunrise when all the world is new,

Just look for me and love me,

As you know I loved you.

Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye.

Look for me in rainbows, high up in the sky.

In the evening sunset,

When all the world is through,

Just look for me and love me.

And I will be close to you.

It will not be forever; the day will come and

My loving arms will hold you,

When we meet again.

Time for us to part now, we won’t say goodbye.

Look for me in rainbows, shining in the sky.

Every waking moment and

all your whole life through

Just look for me and love me,

As you know I loved you.

Just wish me near to you,

And I will be there with you.
