Obituary of Norman Allan Vesey

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Norm, surrounded by family.

He leaves behind his daughter Michelle (Chris); brother-in-law Curly; nieces Kim (Aubrey) and Heather (Richard); nephew Peter; and numerous other family members and friends.

Norm was predeceased by his wife Nancy; sister Linda; and parents Lillian and Frank Vesey.

Norman was a lifelong Winnipeg resident, growing up in St. James and attending St. James Collegiate. He pursued a career in accounting and bookkeeping, working at various companies, including Gambles of Canada, where he met his wife, Nancy. They later settled in Transcona.

Norm enjoyed many sports over the years, participating in curling, slow pitch and was a dedicated supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. However, his true passion was for Ringette. From the moment his daughter started playing, he was actively involved in managing and coaching, eventually becoming a board member of the Transcona Ringette Association, Winnipeg Ringette League, and Ringette Manitoba. His passion for the game led him to become a timekeeper and later an instructor for new timekeepers, training over 1,000 timekeepers in Manitoba. He was also the first shot clock operator in the province. Norm coached numerous teams, from B to AA, but he shared a special bond with his Moose girls. In 2015, he was inducted into the Ringette Manitoba Hall of Fame as a builder, having dedicated countless volunteer hours to the sport and sharing his love and knowledge of Ringette with everyone.

When Norm wasn’t at the rink, he cherished his time at the family cottage at Long Lake. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and playing card games with lake friends and family. He was an avid bird watcher and nature enthusiast, always quick to identify wildlife.

Dad, we love you and miss you deeply. We cherish our memories together, remembering your jokes, laughter, and unwavering support.

Norm requested no formal service. Please join us in celebrating his wonderful life at an "Open House" at East End Arena – Rizzuto Hall, 519 Pandora Ave. East, on Tuesday, June 25th at 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 pm.
