Dan Trochim (Dad Trochim) as I called him) was an exceptionally amazing husband, father, and human being. I will always remember how he always greeted me with a big warm smile, stout handshake and big bear hug when we used to always visit. Along with Elaine "Mom Trochim" you both were like my second parents. After we would go about our greetings, Dad would typically get into a good story about something Ukrainian. As a part Ukrainian (mostly Polish which he has "OK" with) the story typically involved something about dealing with home brewing vodka or wine, or, a funny joke about our shared slavic ancestry. I also loved the multiple stories about his younger years that I would sometimes get after a "good drink" together. The world needs more loving and caring people who can tell a good story. Dad - you were truly one in a million! Thank-you always for being so good to me and my family. We will miss your warm smile, firm handshape and warm hug and great stories very much always. On behalf of all our family here in Alberta, Thompson and Winnipeg - we will miss you. Our sincerest condolences go out to you Lisa, Carole (and your family) and all of the extended family. .Rest in Peace Dan and rest now with the Lord.

Uncle Dan was a precious gift in my life and for that I am deeply grateful! I have many magical memories of Uncle Dan (and Aunty Elaine) growing up as a kid and sharing beach life at Grand Beach and the Big Whiteshell Lake. Uncle Dan and my West Coast family had such fun reconnecting at our home and the baseball park last July 2023! I share this “final gift” with much love in memory of Uncle Dan. xo Barbara Elaine, Niece Family Baseball Night with Uncle Dan, July 11, 2023 Wonderful to share Family Baseball Night with Uncle Dan on his whirlwind West Coast visit! Uncle Dan officiated baseball in Winnipeg for 50 years. What fun we had at Scotty’s Summer Baseball Game as Uncle Dan called the baseball play on the sidelines with Scotty’s Coach Dad on the first base line! Truly a gift learning from the BEST Umpire in town! Of course, our pre-game engagement began catching up with our favorite summer foods: a charcuterie board, pizza, Jessica's delicious salad with fresh dill, and ice-cream! Uncle Dan shared heartwarming stories of Aunty Elaine, (Mom’s Sister) who passed away January 6, 2023. We are the Rememberers and we are deeply grateful for our shared West Coast family time together.
