Obituary of Michael William Boyko

Mike Boyko, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on July 21, 2024, in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was born on May 1, 1947, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Mike will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Emily, and his devoted daughter, Maryann. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always providing unwavering love and guidance. Mike's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He is also survived by his sisters, Donna (Earl), Rosemary, and Rosalie (Kraft), and his brother, Paul (Irena). Mike's presence brought joy and laughter to his siblings, and his passing leaves a profound sense of loss in their lives. He will also be remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Elva and Sandra, as well as his many nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart. 

Mike is predeceased by his sister Ann(Ken), his parents John and Olga Boyko, his inlaws Alli and Lovisa Johnson and  brothers in laws Allan, Bob and Danny.

Mike was known for his unique sense of humor, often catching those around him off guard with his quick wit and sharp tongue. His blunt honesty and lack of filter endeared him to many, and his presence could light up any room. He had a way of making even the most mundane moments memorable with his infectious laughter and playful banter.

In his free time, Mike enjoyed attending gun shows and spending time at the gun range, where he found solace and joy in shooting targets. His passion for firearms and marksmanship was a testament to his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors.

Throughout his life, Mike wore many hats, working as a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and accountant. His strong work ethic and dedication to his craft earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. His impact on the professional world will be remembered by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

In honoring Mike's wishes, there will be no funeral at this time. Instead, his family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share cherished memories of the man they loved so dearly. The outpouring of love and support from the community during this difficult time is a testament to the impact Mike had on those around him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to St. Boniface Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Mike during his time of need. A special thank you is also extended to Dr. Kimmelman for his unwavering support and for tolerating Mike's jokes with grace and patience.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Association in honor of Mike. His memory will live on through the generosity and support given to a cause that was close to his heart.

Mike Boyko will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his unwavering love for his family, and the countless memories he created with those around him. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
