Obituary of John Thomas Nabess

It is with great sadness that we announce John passed away peacefully, aged 63 years at Riverview Health Centre on July 6, 2024.

Left to cherish John’s memory are his son, Jonathon, daughter, Candice; and two grandchildren.  Also mourning his passing are his brother, Marcel Nabess, sisters, Joyce Nabess and Sarah Nabess; as well as many friends and extended family from Winnipeg, Wabowden, The Pas and surrounding areas.  

John was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Florence Nabess.

John was born on March 3, 1961, in The Pas, Manitoba. He lived in a big house in Wabowden with his parents and siblings until he was four years old. John along with four more siblings were stolen during the sixties scoop. John was moved around Manitoba to various foster homes until he was 18 years of age.  John did say a couple homes were loving, others nightmares with secrets that hold dark side effects. #sixtiesscoop #everychildmatters

John graduated from high school in Portage la Prairie and later from Red River College as a Civil Engineer, going on to work for Winnipeg Water and Waste. In spare time John liked to bike, fish and watch nature shows. Also known for enjoying the game of baseball. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to care staff, Ulanda and Claire. You were a wonderful blessing to John.

John spent his final days peacefully in the mountains of Grande Cache and Jasper Alberta with his son and daughter.

Cremation has taken place and on Saturday, October 12, 2024, he will be laid to rest in Wabowden.
