ELIZABETH (BETTY / LIZ) FERGUSON
WATKINS
(nee BAXTER)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Elizabeth Watkins on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the age of 93 years.
Liz will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gordon Emberley; her adoptive sons, Malcolm Watkins and Barry (Shelly) Watkins; and granddaughter, Rayvn.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Glenn Watkins in 1993; and infant son, Colin who passed away at birth.
Betty was born on March 7,1931 in Edinburgh, Scotland to Alexander and Sybil Baxter. Betty was evacuated at the start of the war to Northern Scotland where she spent the wartime period. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 and came to Winnipeg. She had a great love of travel, was always curious, and was a voracious reader, writer and artist. A great friend to many and had a furious love for cats and dogs.
A wonderful aunt to Grayson and Riel. Always fun loving and endearing.
“We all need someone to bear witness
To our existence.”
Poem to Lizabeth
He who taught the birds to sing,
Lead me now upon your wings,
Set your course, clear of cloud,
Now, take me safely home to rest.
By Gord Emberley, husband.
