Heather was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She attended the Manitoba School for the Deaf where she found a sense of belonging and community.

She was active in many sports throughout her childhood and became involved in the Sir Sam Steele Legion branch 115 where she learned to play darts and competed in many dart tournaments.

Heather met Ken in 1975 and the two married shortly thereafter. Both became actively involved in the Calvary Temple for the deaf church and she created lifelong friendships.

Heather's love for sports continued to grow and she took up a special love for baseball. She played on the Pink Stars Deaf team and travelled around Canada for games.

Heather worked many jobs throughout her life, but especially enjoyed her employment as a custodian for the Morris School where she was able to teach her coworkers some sign language and built friendships within the community of Morris.  After her retirement from the Morris School Heather enjoyed weekends fishing at the lake and spending time with her family.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Morris General Hospital for providing exceptional care for Heather during her time there and throughout her final days.

An intimate celebration of life will be held on December 7th, at Heather's home in Morris, Manitoba from 12 p.m-3 p.m.
