Obituary of Joyce Marion Wolfe

Joyce Wolfe passed away at the age of 96 years on December 2, 2024 at Kildonan Personal Care Home. 

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Stephen and son-in-law Marshall. 

She leaves to mourn her daughter Patricia Cassie; grandchildren, Robert (Melanie), Jeffrey (Tracy) and Melanie (Mark); and great grandchildren Matthew, Gillian, Dylan and Chanel.

Joyce was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and married Steve at the age of 16, on November 4, 1944, settling in the North End and had daughter Pat a year later. 

Joyce worked at Perth’s Dry Cleaners for over 40 years and made many lifelong friends there.  In the 1970s, Joyce and Steve built a beautiful home in St. Andrews with a large yard that they enjoyed immensely.

Joyce dedicated her life to her family.  Sunday dinners at Gramma and Papa’s were something the whole family looked forward to and attended religiously.  There were at least 20 different dishes on the table to choose from each week, with her working for days prior to ensure there was enough.  Following dinner, the adults would spend hours visiting while the kids played and made memories.  We will always cherish and remember those amazing times. 

Joyce enjoyed and excelled at cooking and baking, making perogies, perishke and holupchi until she was in her 90’s. 

Joyce and Steve loved their yard with all the flowers, planting a large garden every year and putting up pickles and beets for the family.  Bingo, bowling, playing cards and watching the Jets and Bombers were regular pastimes.

Joyce loved her Grandchildren more than anything and was overjoyed to become a Great Grandmother.  As a young Grandma and then a very young Great Grandma, Joyce was very involved with all of the kids lives.  She spent many hours watching hockey games, soccer matches and dance recitals to show her support for all of them. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their wonderful care and kindness towards Joyce for the past five years.
