Obituary of Stanley Julien Magura
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Stan at the Kildonan Personal Care Home on November 29, 2024 at the age of 80 years.
Stan is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Linda; sons Scott and Kevin (Alison); grandson Michael; sister Joan (Nady); brother Jerry (Kathy); and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Adeline, sister Laura and brother-in-law Fred.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Stan attended River East Collegiate. After graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda, in 1967. Together, they built their lifelong home in Birds Hill, where they raised their family and created countless memories.
Stan enjoyed a career in the printing label business and sales before spending the final 10 years of his working life at Club Regent Casino, a role he truly relished. Throughout his life, Stan found joy in many passions. A lover of music, he enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and listening to his extensive collection of CDs and LPs, with favourites including Elvis Presley and Gordon Lightfoot. He also delighted in drawing, golf, curling, fishing, and playing cards.
A devoted father and grandfather, Stan took great pride in his family. He loved attending his sons’ hockey and soccer games, as well as spending time at the lake, where he and Linda enjoyed picnics, beach outings, and countryside drives with little Michael in the backseat. Stan loved playing swords with Michael.
Stan was a proud member of St. Catherine’s Anglican Church in Birds Hill, where he served on the vestry. He also enjoyed gatherings with lifelong friends, dances, fall suppers, and lively evenings entertaining guests. Known for his quick wit and famous one-liners, Stan had a special gift for making people laugh and feel welcome.
His love for music never faded; even in his later years, he could sing along to his favourite songs word for word. Stan will also be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and easygoing spirit. A talented dancer and a gracious host, he brought light and laughter to every room he entered.
Stan’s love extended to all creatures great and small, including the family pets who brought him so much joy over the years.
Stan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Stan's memory to a charity of your choice.
