Richard Lace

Obituary of Richard Lace

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, partner, brother, uncle and friend, Rick Lace on December 5, 2024.

Rick was predeceased by his parents Henry and Eva; grandparents Emily and Michael; sister Ursula; and brother William.

Rick will be sadly missed by his partner Janina; children Lisa (Ken), Richard (Melanie), Nikki (Rodrick) and Jared (Nikki); grandchildren Elijah, Theo, Amanda, Layne, Zach, Nathan, Quinn, and Ryder; and siblings Christine (Tom), Tony (Anna), George and Anita.

Rick was born in Germany but called Winnipeg home for most of his life.  Having a passion for all things “western”, his signature look was always his cowboy hat and boots.  He loved horses (so much that even his car was a mustang) and owned several of them throughout his life and often spoke about fond memories working at Barn K in Winnipeg.

He was a talented, self-taught artist specializing in wildlife oil paintings, which he loved generously gifting to others.  He had a passion for fishing and loved going with his family to his childhood fishing spot – the pond at Seven Sisters.

We will miss Rick’s sense of humour, caring nature, and amazing cooking.

Rick was a very private person and, as such, no funeral will be held.
