Obituary of Edith Maureen Baker
Peacefully on December 16, 2024 our dear Mom and Grandma passed away at the age of 89.
Mom was just 10 days shy of her 90th birthday. Mom, you were the best Mom and Grandma and we will miss you forever.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kathy (Rick); son Rick (Marcia); stepdaughter Carol (Jerry); grandchildren Tyler, Natasha, Keenan, Christopher (Heather) and Heather (Anthony); brother Bill (Gail); her nieces and nephews; and her many dear friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Stan; parents Marge and Chris Kalkhoven; brother Roger; sisters-in-law Donna and Emily; and stepdaughter Chris.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and spent most of her life in East Kildonan. In 1955 she married Jim Boles and together they had their two children, Kathy and Rick.
Mom was lucky to find love a second time when she met Stan Baker. They were married in 1996 and together they spent many summers at their trailer at Spruce Sands. They enjoyed taking cruises to the Caribbean and many trips to their beloved Hawaii.
Mom worked at George N. Jackson where many of her coworkers became lifelong friends. She retired in February of 1997 after a career of 30 years. She also spent many hours being involved with Job’s Daughters and became the Bethel #9 Guardian.
Mom loved to bake, cook, knit, crochet, read and do crosswords. Having had a few fights with cancer, Mom did volunteer work for the cancer society where she met many friends.
We would like to thank Kim and the wonderful staff at the St. Norbert PCH for taking such great care of Mom during the years she was there.
Cremation has taken place and an interment will take place in the summer of 2025 at the Elmwood Cemetery.
In memory of Mom, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Manitoba Division), the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
