Suzanne Delorme

Obituary of Suzanne Pierrette Delorme

With family by her side on the morning of January 16, 2025, Suzanne Delorme (nee Robert), our mom, “mere” and friend peacefully passed away at the age of 72.

Suzanne was predeceased by her father Louis, mother Lucia, infant brother Leo, sister-in-law Helene, brothers-in-law Allan, Paul, Dan and great nephew Justin.

Mom, or as her grandchildren knew her as “Mere”, will be lovingly remembered by her husband Brunel, children Brunel Jr. (Ashley), Nicole and Sean (Jessica). Her grandchildren filled her heart with love and pride including Alexander, Michel, Mathieu, Nicholas, Charlotte, Ruby and Hayes.  Very special to mom were her 13 brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Suzanne was born December 2, 1952. Early in life, following her mom in the kitchen, she developed a passion for cooking and baking, skills that she would use for the rest of her life.  She moved to St. Norbert, where she graduated high school and spent some time in the hospitality industry. It was around this time when Sue met “Bru”.  They married in June 1973 and started a family.   In 1985, Suzanne graduated from the nursing college at St. Boniface, where she became an LPN.  She worked for almost 40 years caring for the clergy at Villa Aulneau and Residence Despins.  Mom was incredible with her care, grace, and compassion.

In 1988, Bru and Sue moved to St. Vital where they continued to raise their family.  Later they bought a cabin in Auglen Park, near Lac du Bonnet where they would eventually retire.  It was here, where Mom felt at peace.  The land gave her plenty to do.  It became her passion! Mostly started from seed, the gardens were full of flowers and vegetables. They needed love and care, which luckily were specialties of Suzanne.  The bounty that came from the gardens also allowed Mom’s charitable heart to shine through. So many were gifted: flowers, vegetables and preserves, all the result of Suzanne’s loving hands.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Norbert Roman Catholic Parish.  Refreshments to follow at the church hall.  A private interment will occur at a later date.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Cheryl for her compassion and loving care she provided for Sue during her last days.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

If so wished, condolences can be posted at www.alternacremation.ca

Mom, you have given so much more than you received.   You do not have to be in pain anymore.  Rest and tend to your garden, with a diet coke in your hand.  We will miss you so much.
