Obituary of Iris Josephine Evers

It is with great sadness that we announce that Iris Josephine Evers passed away peacefully on March 19, 2020, at the age of 83. Iris is lovingly survived by her three sons, Brad, Blair and Brett, her daughter-in-law Launa, and her grandsons, Parrish and Mason. Iris was a great mom, nana and mother-in-law. She really loved people and had such a pleasant disposition that people were drawn to her and she made friends wherever she went. Her many friends and relatives gave her much happiness and strength and stayed in close contact with her until they, or now she, passed away. Iris was born in Winnipeg on June 4, 1936. She excelled in school and was chosen sophomore queen in high school. She also became a life grand master bridge player which is a rare achievement in bridge circles. Iris was raised by her father Harry, mother Mary and Rose Masson, affectionately called “Granny”. At the time Iris married Walter, she worked as a secretary at Lord Nelson School. She left work after giving birth to Brad to raise her three children until her later years when she returned to work. Mom always gave her children unconditional love and support which was the only love she knew. She was extremely proud of her children and her two grandsons, who she adored. Mom loved her house, Kildonan Park, Winnipeg, her cottage at West Hawk Lake, playing bridge and all the wonderful people in her life. She was a truly amazing person who found great joy in helping others. The family would like to thank everyone for their help and kind words including the dedicated staff at Seven Oaks Hospital. Due to Coronavirus, a memorial service will be postponed until it is safe to proceed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Iris’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
