Obituary of Jerry Evans

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Evans on April 9, 2020 at the age of 82 years after a lengthy battle with cancer. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Shirley; daughter Kelly Welburn (Ken); and grandson Jordan Klippenstein (Carly). Jerry was predeceased in life by his brother Ernie; sisters Elsie and Roxy; and his parents Frank and Mary. Jerry was born on July 25, 1937 in Oakburn, Manitoba growing up there before moving to Winnipeg with his family. In 1972 he married the love of his life, Shirley. Jerry worked for CN Rail for most of his life and would ultimately retire from there. He was a proud member of the Canadian Legion and loved playing pool. He was a skilled woodworker with a special talent for making wooden yard ornaments. He enjoyed sports of all kinds especially hockey and enjoyed bowling in his bowling league. Jerry also loved to travel. In accordance with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. The family extends their sincere appreciation to those who cared for Jerry with kindness and compassion at CancerCare and the Misericordia Health Centre.
