Leslie was my Cooperating Teacher, my mentor, and my friend. I am so sad to hear of her loss, and I send my heartfelt condolences to Kimberly. Leslie was one of the most generous people I've known, and she helped me survive my first few years of teaching, planning lessons with me and always encouraging creativity and deep thought. I'll always cherish the memory of her dry sense of humour and memorable sayings, one of my favourites being, "That tastes like more" (to describe something so tasty that one MUST have another helping!). Lesley had a zest for the "more" of life - she was a truly special and amazing woman, and will be deeply missed.

Lesley was the kindest person I knew, loved animals & her close friends & loved ones more then herself. She was extra kind to my little soulmate Becks who is now with her & her little buddies Gwen & Finny. She talked about loving teaching young people, reading & spending time with her soulmate Kim. She will be missed.

Leslie was a wonderful mentor for our Collegiate students, particularly for the grade nine ones. Smart and caring, she was her own person and an inspiration to us to strive for the best. Conversations with her were always enlivened by que quick wit. It was a pleasure to have known her, she will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences to Kimberley and her loved ones.

I am so sad to hear about Leslie’s passing. We shared an office for a few years and I did enjoy that time together and our conversations about many things. I always looked forward to chatting with her and sharing observations about the students, our work at the Collegiate., and about life in general. She will be greatly missed. My condolences especially to Kim and her loved ones.

I met Leslie as a brand new teacher at Dakota Collegiate. With such a large staff, our day to day interactions were limited at first. It wasn't until I started working with Student groups to raise awareness for how we can help those in need, did i learn about Leslie's generous heart. She often would come to me to fill the void - buying winter coats and boots, covering the cost of a field trip or school fees and ALWAYS willing to cover the cost of book for someone to call their own - all with anonymity She even bought my own children a beautiful copy of the Polar Express as Secret Santa. It has been many years since I have seen Leslie but I always think of her at Christmas and the generosity that she showed. In tribute to an English Teacher, I hope all the punctuation is correct........

I had the honour of working with Leslie for many years at the University of Winnipeg Collegiate. Leslie was charming, witty, and keenly intelligent. There was a spark of light to Leslie that drew me in - conversations with her were marked by her wisdom and warmth. She had true compassion for others and she brought out the best in them.
My sincerest condolences to Kimberly and all who grieve this deep loss.

My heart is breaking! I'm going to miss Leslie so very much. We met 30 years ago when I started teaching at Dakota Collegiate. She became the greatest mentor and my dearest friend. We both went on to teach at the U of W Collegiate, and in the years prior to her retirement, we were fortunate to get to share an office together. It was like having family at work. I treasure the memories of our days in the office, chatting between classes, sharing a love for strong coffee and pooling our lunches. Leslie was so intelligent, so humble and taught me many things about politics, society and especially about how to support students and colleagues. She had a deep caring for students and donated her own money and time to help students in need - emotionally and financially. She had a most generous and caring spirit and was truly an inspiration to me. She was also the strongest, bravest person I've ever met. I cherish you Leslie, and will miss all our phone calls and texts and our lunches together at favourite restaurants. I will miss your smile and the way you always said "joke" after you said something so perceptive and funny and you wanted to make it clear your comment was to be interpreted that way. You will forever be in my heart and will forever be missed. I love you Leslie. Farewell my dear friend.

Leslie , Kim and I met at a vet clinic many years ago. We all had a love affair with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. They became the best dog “ mums” a breeder could ask for. But more importantly Leslie and Kim and I became Best friends and we helped and supported each other thru many of life’s obstacles. I truly miss Leslie and am heartbroken I will not receive any more calls from her just to check up on how I am doing. Please continue to watch out for me wherever you are! Love you Les,

Leslie was my first office partner at The Collegiate. She was a terrific conversationalist and I looked forward to our discussions. We talked about education, students, assignments, travel, politics, dogs, and our shared love of Shakespeare. She was kind and funny, and never hesitated to share her experience and knowledge with me. Leslie made me a better teacher and I will miss her.
