I am so sorry I can’t make it out to the funeral , with everything going on in the world. I am glad my dad Ken was able to go. I haven’t seen Uncle Jim since my sister Lisa’s wedding in Winnipeg over 10 years ago. Since moving to Vancouver, trips back have been not nearly often enough. Winnipeg and the Boyce family house hold a special place in my heart, and Uncle Jim was a big part of my memories of Winnipeg traditions growing up. Every year, at thanksgiving dinner as a kid I would look forward to the meatballs that Aunt Dolores would make, I think I ate a couple thousand of them. The house was always one where I felt loved , and met with a hug and smile. Looking at pictures as a kid and even now I could see the Boyce family resemblance in my face. Uncle Jim, his smile and love for family will always be in my memory of him. Love you all,
Jason Boyce, Jim’s nephew

I guess I must have first met Jim when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I can remember many visits with him and my sister. I also remember staying with them for different times of my life. Jim was always supportive and seemed to take everything in stride including carrying me into their house when I couldn't walk because of a car accident. He never seemed to get too excited and patiently explained to me several times how the half game thing worked in baseball. Sorry, Jim, I still don't get it. Jim put family first and knew it was important to establish a good home for them. Thanks to Jim and Dee, I experienced my first A & W drive-in when I spent a week with them at the end of Grade 11. It seems incredible that he is no longer with us but I know his memory is and I know his family will have many fond recollections for all the years to come. Rest in peace, Jim.
