Brian Skakum

Obituary of Brian Thomas Skakum

Suddenly, on August 12th we lost Our Brian. Brian was an intelligent, creative and fun-loving person. He had a quirky sense of humour, a kind nature and a generous soul. When he was younger Brian enjoyed playing football. As time passed and knees would no longer allow, he took to watching football. He enjoyed drawing and spending quality time with friends and family. He especially loved living in Gimli. His cottage was very special to him so much so that he built his permanent home on the same land. He loved early mornings on the back beach. For most of his career he drove a truck. In the last few years, he has been working locally at Evergreen Basic Needs enjoying connecting with and helping in his community. Brian was predeceased by his parents John and Teenie Skakum; sisters Linda Gray and Judy Sedleski; brother Jack Skakum and niece Christie Hamerla. Left to mourn their “Weird Uncle Brian” (his way of signing a card) Warner Main, Larissa Skakum Boning (David) and Rob Sedleski; brothers in law Ernie Sedleski (Mona) and Barry Gray; sister in law Ann Skakum; great nephews and niece Parker Hamerla (father Bert), Merritt and Esme Boning, Emmett and Riley Sedleski. He will be deeply missed by many friends and his heart family at Evergreen Basic Needs and his Guardian Angel Elaine Gibbs. Safe travels Brian, we will miss your quick laugh and your kind heart. A private service will be held at a later date.
