Sending condolences on behalf of the Kazmerik family. Cy and Sophie were fellow parishioners at St. Anne’s. They were such kind and loving people always ready with a smile and kind words. Cy sang in the choir for years but I never knew of his musical background. Lovely pictures and memories.

Mr. Nimchuck was my principal at Windsor school in St Vital in 1972. He took over from principal Finley who reined over Windsor for over 30 years. Mr. Nimchuck filled those boots with loving kindness. I believe I only had to go to the principals office once in 1972 for wearing jeans instead of a dress to school at 40 below. Mr. Nimchuck changed those dress requirements immediately. Condolences to the family.

I had the privilege of having Cy as my principal at Dr. D.W. Penney School. Cy was always the same....treating staff, students and parents in a friendly, respectful manner. He set the tone for the building as a happy, productive place to teach and learn.
We were able to touch base with Cy and Sophie in later years at Goldeye games. Your Dad/Grandpa was a very special guy and I feel blessed to have had him in my life. Dolores Horn

As a now retired Winnipeg Police Officer I met Cy at the old Lavallee School on St Annes Road 52 years ago. He later became Principal at Windsor School where our Sons David and Kyle attended. We eventually became good friends with Cy and Sophie and were fortunate to be part of the theme parties at Monkton Avenue. We will always remember them with love and fond memories. Two beautiful people together again and that is something to smile about.
Sincere condolences to the Nimchuk Clan.

I was a substitute teacher in t981 when I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Nimchuk when he was principal at Dr. D.W. Penner School. What a wonderful person! He made me feel as though I was just as important as any of his full-time staff!
My sincerest condolences to his family and dear friends for their loss.

Dear Cheryl, Karen, Debbie, Brad and Sonia
We are so saddened that we lost a very dear friend. This was a relationship that knew no bounds or borders. We knew Cy as a person of exceptional character in all aspects and we feel privileged to have been part of his life.
His wit and sense of humor was infectious.
His strong faith kept him spiritually healthy.
In the end, God saw Cy getting tired and a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come to Me."
A golden heart stopped beating and working hands came to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
Love and many blessings!!! Sonia and Merv

My sincerest condolences to Cheryl, Karen, Debbie,, Brad, and Sonia
We seem to take each day for granted and then we lose some that we most love....firstly Aunt Sophie...and now Uncle Cy.
Happy and smiling faces and hugs and kisses...each time that we met.
Years ago, I worked in my near-by mall and so many times....as Cy walked by, he always stepped in to say "Hello". Just a little chat but it meant so much to me. This happened many times over my 20+ years at this shop.
I was one of his family because my late husband Bob Mitchosky was Aunt Sophie's nephew.
Each and every time...."Uncle Cy" and "Aunt Sophie" and I met.....there were always hugs.
They were the most loving people that I have ever known.
But...I can't close before I recall our Christmas Eves at "Uncle Cy's and Aunt Sophie's" with ALL of the family there and the Christmas Eve meal with all of the traditional foods .Those were Christmas Eves to remember!! Many of our children will remember those evenings...as does my son....Jason. He's spoken to me often over the years about those Christmas Eves. Suddenly..!! Santa appeared with gifts for the kids!....and then there was Cy with his accordian and everyone having a sing-song of carols and more...and a jolly get-together.
Even to this day..Jason recalls those Christmases at "Uncle Cy's & Aunt Sophie's".
Such a special man was Uncle Cy and such a special lady was Aunt Sophie.
My deepest condolences to the family.

My condolences on the passing of your Dad, was a shock to hear. As has been said he is now dancing with Sophie and could they dance. 987 Moncton was a home away from, a full house, full of fun and plenty of dinners and eventually the accordion would come out and everyone would be tapping their toes. Good memories had by all.....Myron&Judy Gavaga and Wendy Watsko

I was sad to read about the passing of your Dad. My sincere sympathy to your family. Your Dad was an important person in my life. He believed in my ability to be a good teacher even though I was only 20. He gave me my first teaching position at Lavallee school in 1971. He was a wise and kind man. Whenever I saw him he was always interested in how I was doing and asked about my family. I will never forget him.

When Cy interviewed me for a teaching job at Windsor School , he said, “I don’t want teachers of subjects, I want teachers of children.” I’ve always remembered that. It defined the people - centered focus on students and staff alike that made it such a warm and loving place, where so many of us young teachers saw Cy as our second dad. Every memory I have of Cy makes me smile, from the laughter in the staff room, to watching him grinning proudly at Sophie as she danced on the table at one of their memorable parties, to his words to me as we danced at my wedding. He was a bright light in my life, and I send my deepest sympathy to all of you who he loved best. I’m so sad to hear of his passing, but I can smile at the thought of him dancing again with Sophie. What a team they were.

Well, this ends an era, doesn't it? Cy and Sophie were the best house-parents any group of university pals could hope for. They welcomed us, fed us, and showed genuine interest in our lives. I always felt so welcomed and so comfortable in their home. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope your memories offer you some comfort now and into the future.

My heartfelt sympathy go out to all my cousins on the loss of their dad, my uncle Cy. I have wonderful memories as a child, of visiting my uncle and auntie and playing with all my cousins. Although we didn’t get together as much as adults, when we did meet up, it is like time hadn’t passed. I regret that this time in which we find ourselves don’t permit us to gather and celebrate Uncle Cy’s life as a family. My heartfelt condolences for your loss and I hope the time when you can all meet together to say goodbye to your dad comes quickly. Love your cousin Janus ❤️
