Obituary of Lois Ellen Boyd

Lois was born in Pipestone, Manitoba to Charlie and Lois Caldwell. She spent most of her early life in Reston, Manitoba, graduating from Reston Collegiate. She then attended Business College in Brandon before going to work for Canadian Fire & Indemnity in Winnipeg. In 1954, she met her future husband, Dave, who was training to be an officer in the RCAF. After graduating in 1955, Dave left for his first posting in Nova Scotia. They were engaged before he left and they were married in Reston on 7 July 1956. Thus began a 64 year long mutually satisfying life-long adventure. Throughout the years the family moved many times due to Dave’s career. From Nova Scotia to Biloxi, Mississippi, Ottawa, Winnipeg, back to Nova Scotia to Winnipeg, to Sacramento, California, Toronto and finally back to Winnipeg and eventual retirement. Through the many moves, Lois made many friends she cared deeply about. She was always there to lend a helping hand and to give advice – especially advice! Even in retirement, travelling continued. Cruises to Italy, Greece, Turkey and through the Panama Canal, to Russia, Sweden, Denmark and the Baltic States. Our golf trips with our friends Bonnie and Paddy, Ben and Honnie, Joe and Colleen were always loads of fun. Our trips to England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France with our daughter and son-in-law were memorable. Lois was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Lois; brother Boyd and his wife Bea; her sister Merle and her husband Dennis; their daughter Judy; her in-laws Harold and Marie; and sister-in-law Betty. She is survived by her husband Dave; daughter Bev (Al) Eros; son David and his friend Jen; son Mike and wife Ijeoma; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place and no funeral is planned at this time. If so desired, donations may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
