My apologies for being so late with my message.
Loretta and her family meant a lot to my family. I remember Loretta and my mom speaking Latvian to each other, and giggling at their mistakes. I remember at my brother's wedding, Loretta convincing me, an awkward 13 year old, to get up on the Dance floor, and cut loose. When it became important to me, to learn more about my Family history, Loretta spent hours with me, looking at huindreds of photos. She was able to identify many of the people, and she was able to offer valuable information. I'm sure she was exhausted by this, but, as always, supported my endeavours as much as she could.
She was a very special person.

What I remember most is Auntie Loretta was always so much fun. As far back as I can remember, a visit with her was always a great time. It was always a general presence of laughter and fun, we were always very excited to visit with her. When I was probably 10 or 11, for Christmas, she wrapped up a bunch of coins as a gift in a huge box, and inside that box was a box, and then another box, and another box, and so on. Probably took us 30 minutes to finish opening everything. It was so much fun. I was just remembering that story over Christmas as I was thinking about her.
I will remember her as a really nice person who was easy going and easy to talk to, a great dog mom, and always fun to watch golf or curling with.
We are so deeply sorry for your loss. Our hearts and thoughts are with you all.

Aunt Loretta was the best. The photo I posted was the day of my wedding. We were all staying in a local Hotel in Belleville Ontario. It was the morning of and everyone was busy with something to do except me. I was trying to keep calm. Around 9 am a knock on my door. There was Aunt Loretta with a big smile and a cup of coffee. It was as if she knew I would be alone and a bit nervous. We chatted and laughed and the nerves calmed. She was always so easy to talk to.
I will miss her, but always remember her as one of my favorite people.
Thinking of you guys in Winnipeg, Uncle Henny, Kerry, Patti, Kim and of course Ralph and Larry.

My deepest sympathy to Gene, Kerry, Kim and family.
I love the tribute to Loretta. It brings back great memories.
My earliest memories of Loretta were in Ethelbert when she would come over with Gene to visit Mom. I thought they were just the coolest couple. I remember on more than one occasion when everyone was sitting around the living room talking, I would squeeze in and sit next to Loretta. I would put my arm on the back of the couch and slightly touch Loretta’s shoulder. Sometimes someone would say “hey Wayne is in love” and I would quickly pull my arm back and blush. But it didn’t stop me from doing it again the next time.
I looked up to Loretta and Gene in those days and since and I always will.

Aunt Loretta and Uncle Gene
visited our Sask. Farm several times in summers over the years. I think Mom considered their visits as special as any Burtnyk visit. I remember Aunt Loretta as friendly and unpretentious. She seemed very much like just another of the Burtnyk sisters. Mom had a glamorous photo in her 90th birthday book—three bathing beauties, perhaps sisters, posing together on a hot day on a Wakaw Lake dock.

Kerry, Kim and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time. I remember as a young man going to Gene and Loretta's house on Crestview Park Drive on numerous occasions to play bridge. I had no idea how to play, but I remember how kind and patient Loretta was in helping me to learn the game. I will always remember those fun times.

I have wonderful memories of your mom growing up.
Baseball at Crestview community club comes to mind. I remember your dad was the umpire and your mom was always cheering us on from the sidelines. RIP Mrs. Burtnyk
