I grew up with Darcy in West Kildonan and he was definitely somebody I looked up to. Despite being a few years older than my friends and I he always made us feel like we were part of the group. Great memories of playing hockey with Darcy and Frank and Richard, Wade, Ryan, etc. My deepest condolences to the Paulenko family. Rest in Peace my friend.

I had lost touch with Darcy over the last decade or so, but Darcy and I grew up in West Kildonan. We spent a lot of time playing hockey on the Salter Park Rink. Darcy was always one of the kindest, caring people. He had that Paulenko smile. One of the things I remember about Darcy was his respect he showed towards my dad as kid, always respectful, yes sir etc. It is gut wrenching to hear of your passing my friend. I hope you are at peace now. God Speed brother.
To the entire Paulenko family my deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

My condolences go out to the Paulenko family during this difficult time. Darcy was a very close friend of mine as we grew up together and were neighbors in West Kildonan. Our childhood and teen year's were all spent together throughout elementary school at Centennial, moving up to junior high at Edmund Partridge and graduating at West Kildonan Collegiate. Many days throughout those years were spent playing baseball, Hockey, riding on bmx bikes, or just hanging out. Darcy was always a great friend, and his family always accepted me into their home. You will be missed Darcy, the neighborhood won't be the same.Your friend Frank Paulic

Darcy had a smile that would light up a room. We trained hard, played hard and were a solid crew when in uniform. One solid man I could always talk candid to, had my back 1000% and never made a single shift dull while he was my solid partner. Life doesn't always deal us a fair hand, rest in peace my dear friend and trust that you made us all smile, made our job a hell of a lot more fun and you never, ever let me down. xo

Aunt Donna, Shaun and Jesse,. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to all of you. I am heartbroken to hear of Darcys passing.... much too soon. Like cousin Jennifer I to have so many fond memories of Darcy from the camp Paulenko days .I will never forget his smile and his laugh, he was one tough kid as he always kept up with his older/bigger cousins, and he grew into a strong man. I didn't really know Darcy in his adult years but as I read these stories about him its clear that he was a humble, loving, caring man who was willing to help and encourage others. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers. GOD bless you and keep you. Love Barry and Susanne

Heartfelt condolences to Darcy’s mom Donna, his brother Shaun, Darcy’s son and everyone who loved him.
The Darcy I knew was from a very long time ago, the Darcy whose smile turned any bad day around, the Darcy who wrote love letters and poems, who loved his truck, his friends and Spring! Your life was cut too short Darcy, but I hope that you are in heaven smiling, joking and loving up on those up there you joined! Rest easy Darce.

I did not get to spend a lot of time with Darcy.
I worked with him , but mostly I knew him as a friend of the family.
He always had positive advice to share, kind words and a very modest way about him. I think he enjoyed helping people because in the short time I worked with him I saw him do this for a lot of staff.... including me.
I recall him going out of his way to make what was shaping up to be an uncomfortable day, into a great day.
Your wisedom and kindness will be missed Darcy....
Thank you for being in my life.

Aunt Donna, Shaun and Jesse...with such a heavy heart we are sending our prayers and condolences to all of you. Darcy was one of kind - those who knew him, loved him. Such a tragedy.
I have many fond memories of Darcy but the ones that stand out the most for me are the "camp Paulenko" days on our Grandma's farm in Roblin, MB. All you camp Paulenko attendees (awesome cousins) will attest to this! Darcy was one of the youngest cousins so he was always well taken care of and even as a little boy, he always wanted to keep up with the big kids - and he did. He was a picky little eater back in those days and its a darn good thing he was so adorable because Grandma always looked after him. I also had the pleasure of working with Darcy for a short while - he grew into a wonderful man, was so very proud of his son - his legacy. Rest In Peace Darcy...God has a plan - Love you big guy! Hold the fort up there Darce...we will see you again. xo
