Obituary of Glen Michael Meldowych

We are saddened to announce the passing of Glen on June 21, 2021 at the age of 70 years at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Glen is survived by his sister Mildred Woznesensky; nieces Marlo Ferguson (Jim) and Carrie Schimnowski (Paul); nephew Trevor Rogoz (Kelly) and Jason (Randi); grand-nieces Anna Leigh, Keely, Lexi and Sophie; and grand-nephews Logan, Wyatt and Oliver. Glen was predeceased in life by his parents Mike and Mary Meldowych (nee Sabadash); brother Bernie Sakowski; and sister Linda Rogoz. Born in Winnipeg, Glen grew up in the Elmwood neighborhood. His artistic abilities were evident right from childhood, where one of his creations would be the contest winner that earned him a trip to meet Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. His talent would lead him to a fulfilling 25 year career in the Industrial Arts Department at the Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre. Glen was a kind-hearted friendly person who could often be found at the bowling alley in his younger years. In his later years, Glen enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Cremation has taken place and due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, no formal service will be held. Glen will be laid to rest with his parents in a private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Glen’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Canada.
