We the family of Shirley Barbara Douglas are saddened to announce her passing at the age of 90 years on June 23, 2021 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg.
She leaves to mourn her two sons Reid (Nadia) and Bruce (Jaclyn); her grandchildren Lisa, David, Lesley, Brian, Amanda, Jennifer and Brandon; her great grandchildren Alyssa, Devin, Ethan, Chase, Joseph, Edward, Olivia and Caitlyn and their families; her much loved brother Brian MacDonald as well as many treasured nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States.
Shirley was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 25, 1931 and attended school in Winnipeg as well Los Angeles, California in her early teens. Throughout her life she lived in Los Angeles, Hawaii, Toronto and finally returning to Winnipeg for her remaining years.
She was an entrepreneur, a business woman, a manager with Edison Properties and an all round steadfast supporter and mentor to her children and grandchildren to whom she instilled a solid work ethic and the belief that integrity, compassion, empathy and honesty were the critical components to a successful life.
She loved her family unconditionally and always wanted only the best for them.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved granddaughter Ashley Taryn Douglas in 2017; her parents Benjamin Chester MacDonald and Gertrude MacDonald (Capner); her brother George MacDonald; sisters Mae Robison, Beatrice Duffy, Edith Senebald, Margaret (Peggy) Artiss and nephew Barry Senebald.
