Obituary of Ken Ryman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth James Ryman. He surrendered to cancer October 18, 2021, after six long years of illness. Ken was a husband, brother, uncle, friend, and father to five amazing children Shannon (Matt), Shayla, Shaun (Kaitlyn), Shelby, Sheena (Jacob). Married to Sylvia for 43 years, he loved hosting family get-togethers and reminiscing over good times and great family vacations. He enjoyed fishing, coffee dates with his buddies, daily chats on the phone with his sister Leslie, and looking for deals in the weekly fliers. Ken started working for Safeway at the age of 16 and worked his way up to manager where he retired at the age of 62, only to return to Safeway a year later and work another year. He loved to cook for people and would claim to be famous for his prime rib roast. He could often be found having a smoke on the front veranda with a neighbour or barbequing for a family dinner with his kids. He was always the life of the party with his off-the-wall humour and would love to tease his brothers-in-law Barry and Karl. In life Ken won the lottery of family love. He will be sadly missed by us all. Special thanks to Riverview 3East staff and Grace Hospice staff for taking such great care of Ken (and his family) these last two months. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Ken's name.
