Obituary of Viney Marlene Martin
Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Viney was released from her struggle with COPD.
She leaves to mourn her children Jason (Lisa) and Viney (Someth); grandchildren Taylor, Alyssa (Nic), Hailey (Kody), Kai and Quinn; special cousin Gerie; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to her niece Lisa for her support.
Viney was predeceased by her parents Charles and Ida; her brothers David (Yvette) and Barry (Maria); special Aunt Viney (Charlie); nephew Jeffrey; great niece Jamie; as well as her beloved pets Sylvester, Dixie, Tawny, Bella, Will and Molly. Greatest of all losses was her beloved husband, partner and friend Lyle in 1990, for whom she grieved for the rest of her life.
Mom was born and raised in Transcona, of which she was very proud. She attended Central School and Transcona Collegiate Institute and sailed to Europe several times with her beloved Aunt Viney and Uncle Charlie. Her family cottage at Ottermere and then at Lakeshore Heights held many fond memories.
She met Dad at 20, and love bloomed. Children followed, as well as pets, family parties, family camping trips and lots of fun and laughter. She inherited her beloved Aunt Viney's cabin at Lakeshore Heights, and we continued to make friends and memories there.
After the sudden loss of Dad, she managed to hold us together and still give us our best start in life, for which we are forever grateful.
Mom loved family, friends, and fun. She loved laughter and silliness. This attitude kept her going after her loss, but in her heart she was only waiting to see him again. We take comfort knowing they are now together, never to be separated again.
