It was with great sadness that we found Mrs. C's obituary. I have great memories of school lunch times spent with Barry and Mrs. C. and the special times she made doughnuts for us. During many of those lunches she would threaten (with a smile) to call my mom and tell her I was not eating the crusts of my sandwich. I in turn, would write out the phone number for her and smile back. She never did call. I was a frequent guest at the lake. Mrs. C. never failed to have a rather large plate of cubed beef for Barry and I to cook as a snack over the fire outside in the front yard during the evening. We did share the occasional game of crib where I was normally trounced or skunked. During the years, I continued to drop by every now and then and sit at the kitchen table with her. She was a very approachable person who always seemed to know what to say.
Our deepest condolences to Barry, Wenda, Randy and family.
Dean & Lynn Ducharme.

I was honoured to have been able to call this lovely lady “Izzy” who I met through Wenda when we began working together 40 years ago. I felt a great sadness when I learned that she had passed.
I have such lovely memories of Isabel. I didn’t see her often but when I did, she was so happy to see me and always greeted me with a big smile. I so enjoyed going out for lunch or dinner with her and Wenda where there was always good conversation and much laughter. She was tiny but had a big heart. At a dinner I had with her and Wenda shortly after my sister’s passing a few years ago, she offered such comfort, more than she would have even realized.
No matter how old we are, it’s never easy to lose a parent. My condolences to Wenda and all the members of Isabel’s family. Hang on to your precious memories as they will help you get through this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of Isabel’s passing! Growing up next door to the Calsbecks I have lots of wonderful memories of her. She was a great neighbour to my parents in their golden years. We were thankful that after Mom passed away Dad had Isabel next door and they often chatted over the fence. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

I am so saddened to hear of Isabel's passing. I will miss our coffee dates together with Wenda, her pastries, her peanut butter cookies and her tell-it-like-it-is positive attitude. Isabel welcomed so many of us into her home and heart. She has a special place in my heart and she is remembered fondly and missed. Her love and pride of her children and grandchildren has always been first and foremost in her heart. She just beamed when she spoke of you. My condolences to all the family.
Her life so well lived and loved!

I have known Mrs.Calsbeck since 1970 when Wenda and I became friends at the University of Winnipeg. I always remember her with a sunny disposition who exuded kindness to everyone who crossed her path. Although she was tiny in stature, she augmented her height with the tallest high heels you could purchase. Most ladies have trouble walking in heels, but not Mrs. Calsbeck. She was able to strut around at top speed and never miss a step!
Mrs. Calsbeck was a fabulous baker, and every Xmas she would make me a batch of her famous Peanut Butter Cookies.....which I devoured immediately! One Xmas, when I was short of time, she did all of my Xmas baking and her goodies were so enjoyed by my guests. In fact, I think many of them thought I had outdone myself!!
I often visited Mrs. Calsbeck when Wenda was out of town. The one thing that was very apparent on every visit was how proud she was of her three grandchildren. She loved them dearly and described all of their accomplishments, as well as showing me their photos which she had on display in her living room.
Although as children, we are conditioned to the fact that losing our parents is part of the circle of life, closing these chapters is marked with great sadness. Her children were committed to ensuring she could remain in her own home, and did everything possible to make her last years comfortable and enjoyable. Mrs. Calsbeck was so blessed to have such a loving family.
"When we lose someone we love, they are no longer where they used to be. They are now wherever we are".
To the entire Calsbeck family, please accept my most heartfelt condolences.

Isabel was like a second Mom to me and your home was a second home as well. When deserved she could ladle out a good serving of a well deserved “tongue lashing” for climbing on the roofs of our garage and parachuting off them with bed sheets! Tight roping the Calsbeck fence usually got a strong “rebuk” but was often followed by some sort of treat…..popsicles or baking.
A very fine lady with a life well lived.
Warm thoughts and prayers to the family!
