Jean Kowaler

Obituary of Jean Kowaler

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Kowaler, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister on May 21, 2022 at Concordia Place at the age of 91. Jean was predeceased by her mother Anastasia in 1941, her father John in 1973 and her granddaughter Jill in 1995. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her three daughters, Linda (Dennis), Gail (George), Cathy (Ed); grandchildren Laura (Marko), Michael (Rachelle), Michelle (Carson), Jett (Steve), Karly (Joey) and Tyler; great grandchildren Alina, Jace, Cruz, Dylan, Grayson, Brooke, Jake, Molly, Kennedy and Reese; sister Marge; dear friend Stephanie; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Our Mom was happiest spending time with her family. In her earlier years she loved having the grandchildren over for dinner or going out for a meal to catch up on the exciting things happening in their lives. It gave her great joy. Mom’s appointments always turned into a lunch date with whichever daughter accompanied her that day. She always looked forward to trying a new restaurant and being with one of her girls. Jean loved going out for lunch, shopping, drives through the park, road trips and family celebrations. Her favourite trips were to Kenora, Las Vegas, Montreal, small Manitoba towns and as Mom called it going “across the line.” Jean made lifelong friends through her work at Hans Christian Toys and with many other mall employees and neighbours. Being an extremely social person it wasn’t uncommon for her to make a new friend on an outing to the mall or grocery store. She was a genuine friend treasured by all who knew her. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff on the third floor, D wing at Concordia Place for all the excellent care given and compassion shown to Mom during her stay with them. We miss you and love you always. You will be forever in our hearts. Rest In Peace. The family will be holding a private gathering.
