Dad has expired. 1944 - 2022 Peacefully on May 19, 2022 at HSC Dan Tokash passed away after a brief struggle with cancer, age 77. Dan will be greatly missed by daughters Tammy Tokash (Scott) and Kelly Spulnick (George); grandchildren Jason, Amanda (Jarrod), Kristen (Dylan), Melissa (Sebastian), Amber (Dave), Braden (Lisa); great grandchildren Nevaeh and Ciara; Mona his cockatiel; special friend Rose Blahut; and numerous family and friends. Dan was predeceased by his wife Shirley of 55 years; parents John and Helen Tokash; brothers Ed, Stanley and Rudy; sisters Emily and Rose; and also many close family and friends. Dan was born and raised in Rembrandt, Manitoba. One of ten children. He later moved to Winnipeg, where he met Shirley while working at Paulin Chambers. They married in August 1965 and had two daughters Tammy in 1966 and Kelly in 1968. Dan retired in 2008 from Safeway where he was a forklift operator for many years. Dan loved the cottage, that was his “happy place”. Dan loved old cars and wildlife. If it moved, he fed it! Emily waiting on the driveway Friday afternoons, card nights, bonfires, singsongs with beers/shots in hand and a guitar close by. Those are the memories we will cherish. To Auntie Jan, Uncles Reg and Nestor thank you for helping dad over the years. Dr. Wheeler and nursing staff on GD4 at HSC. Thank you for the excellent care dad received in his last five weeks. Special thank you to Rose, for everything you did for dad. You were there when we couldn’t be, and for that we are forever grateful. Dad, your struggles are over, your rest well earned. Pain free at last. What we wouldn’t give to have “one more for the road” - cheers! Cremation has taken place. A fall service is being planned for both Dan and Shirley Tokash.
