Marcella Cavers

Obituary of Marcella Laverne Cavers

It is with the greatest sadness, but with the happiest of memories that we share the peaceful passing of our beautiful Mom, Marcella Cavers on May 22, 2022, at the age of 93. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Karen Hunter (Robert Bean) and Glenda Cavers (Grant Smerchanski); her grandchildren Kristin and Derek Smerchanski; and her nieces and nephews who also fondly remember her. Mom is now re-united with her beloved husband Ed; her parents Laura and George Fielding; and many extended family and friends. Mom was born April 29, 1929 in Virden and grew up in Maryfield, Saskatchewan. Her family moved to Winnipeg when she was twelve years old. Mom lived in east Transcona for many years before moving to St Michael’s Villa, where she made many friends and enjoyed all the social activities. Mom worked at Great West Life and when her daughters arrived, she enjoyed being a stay at home Mom. She was a wonderful Mom and Grandma. Our Mom was happiest spending time with her family. She looked forward to visits and dinners with family and friends. She was a genuine friend treasured by all who knew her. Mom really enjoyed baking. She always sent a package of her baking home with us anytime we would visit. Family and friends also enjoyed her tasty baking! Mom enjoyed reading, word search books and completing many jigsaw puzzles. A special thank you to the nurses and health care aides on the fourth floor, C Wing at Concordia Place. They were all exceptional and very dedicated. The thoughtful staff always had her hair and clothes absolutely perfect, just the way she liked it! A special thanks to Sherry, Cathy, Renee and Erica. Your excellent care and compassion will never be forgotten! Sherry you will always be Mom’s wonderful angel and have a special place in our hearts. Thank you to Dr. Dennis Caners for the decades of excellent care. Cremation has taken place, and out of respect for Marcella’s wishes there will be no formal memorial service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. We will always remember Mom with a smile in our hearts.
