With sorrow in our hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, afi, brother and uncle. Thor passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home with his family near. Thor will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra; children Marni, Eric and Loreen (Kyle); grandchildren William, Cohen and Gavin McCluskey (father Preston); siblings Phylis (Harold Thorkelson), Laura (Morley McLeod) and Robert (Helga); brother-in-law Dennis Sigurdson (Charlene); sisters in law Candice Sidurdson, Wendy (Kevin Johannesson) and Loris (Dave Bertrand); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Thor was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Helga Dahlman; in-laws Marino and Alice Sigurdson; brothers-in-law Roy and Gary Sigurdson. Thor was born in Gimli and raised in Riverton Manitoba. As a schoolboy, Thor helped his father at their family business, the Riverton Meat Locker Plant. Thor enjoyed playing various sports, but his first true love was hockey. After graduation he obtained his meat cutting certificate from Red River Community College then began his life-long career in the meat cutting industry. In 1977, he married the love of his life Sandra and together they raised their three children. Thor was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and would always brag about their many accomplishments every chance he could. Thor was an extremely generous man, always welcoming friends and family into his home with a friendly hello and a beverage of their choice. Dad loved his numerous pet cats, dogs and even loved feeding his pet crows. Dad loved hunting, watching hockey, CNN and the weather channel on tv, the man was always up to date. Thor had a wonderful sense of humour and was a very dedicated husband, father, afi and friend. In following with Thor’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Our family would like to thank his son Eric, the WRHA and Perimed for all their care this past year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hnausa Cemetery Association, Box 716, Riverton, MB, R0C 2R0, or a charity of your choice.
