Obituary of Doreen Joyce Parker
Doreen died peacefully on August 13, 2022. She was born August 12, 1928 in Cartwright, Manitoba.
Doreen is survived by Jack, her devoted husband of 72 years; four daughters Andrea (Aaron) Furutani, Jolene Parker, Cindy (Ron) Parker-Rentz and Jackie (Scott) Jackson; four grandchildren Ashley (Aaron), Andrew (Kristen), Troy (Tasia) and Haley (Jakob); three great grandchildren Emily, Angus and Roxanne; and her niece Dawn (Grant) May.
She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Eva Moore; and her sister Phyllis MacDonald-Holder.
Doreen was a homemaker while her daughters were growing up. Later she worked at Jean McIntosh Needlepoint. Doreen and Jack enjoyed trips to Mexico, Cuba, Hawaii, Europe and the British Isles, as well as a cruise.
Mum valued family above all else. She was a great cook and baker and prepared countless Sunday dinners for the whole family, a tradition handed down from her mother. Attendance was not viewed as optional.
Outside the home, she enjoyed a nice meal out with a glass (or two) of wine. For as long as they were able Mum and Dad would walk at The Forks and along Corydon Avenue in the summer. They were season ticket holders at MTC for many years.
Special thanks to the nurses and health care aides at Vista Park Lodge for their kindness and compassion to Doreen and her family.
It was Doreen’s wish to have no formal service. The immediate family will gather to celebrate our Mum’s long and full life.
She loved and was loved and we will miss her always.
