Obituary of Cynthia Irene Chomynec (nee: Allan)
After a lifelong fight with cancer, it is with so much sadness and love we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Cynthia will be lovingly remembered by her husband Roman; two daughters Kim (Jeff) and Kathleen; grandsons Lars-Erik, Dawson, Easton; two cats Kitty and Boomer; niece Julie; nephew Ron; as well as close family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Percy and Evelyn; and brothers Gary and William.
Cynthia was born in Winnipeg and grew up with her parents and six siblings, Gary, Linda, Sheryl, Sandra, and Richard in Elmwood. Their house on Talbot Ave was filled with love, chaos, and laughter. The memories of her childhood spent with her parents and siblings were very special to her, she held them close to her heart.
In 1979 Cynthia graduated from Red River College and immediately started her career in Nursing. She worked at Concordia Hospital, McPhillips Medical and then retired as a Homecare Nurse in 2010. Cynthia was a very caring and compassionate nurse but if you needed to toughen up, she’d tell you.
Cynthia married her husband Roman of 37 years in 1985. Together they built a home full of family gatherings, traditions, and love, even when life wasn’t always kind. Cynthia’s daughters and grandsons were the center of her world, and she would do anything for them at any time. She knew how to make a bad day better and a regular day special. We were so fortunate to have her in our lives.
Cynthia was always up for doing something. Whether it was spending time with her parents, playing bingo, going to the park, gardening, or decorating a room, she loved to be busy. Cynthia had a sense of style and everything she touched she made beautiful.
Taking trips short or long always made Cynthia happy. One that Cynthia remembered vividly, was her trip to California when she was younger giving her a zest for travel; road trips and camping with Roman, Florida trips with Sandra, Mexico trips with friends, or zip-lining and hockey trips with her grandsons, Cynthia loved to experience it all. She enjoyed every minute.
Cynthia’s cancer journey started 37 years ago and for many of those years, she was a Survivor. There were a lot of hard days, but she never gave up. Her strength and fight were unmeasurable and inspiring.
Her words of wisdom..... Always Believe!
Thank you to her sister Sandra for helping to bring laughter and support to Cynthia this past year.
