It is with the deepest of sadness that we announce that after a lengthy bout of illness, Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep. She had been mostly in the hospital since January but was able to come home to her family on Monday 19, 2022. We did not expect that our time with her was going to be so short.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rick McDonald; daughter Shannon (Jeff) Lepine; her pride and joys Colette (Lou), Brendan (B) and Danielle (Dee), she was affectionately known as their Gma and Gammy; and her sisters Linda (Ken) VanMackelberg and Jackie Hodson (Gerry). Mom also has other family members including cousins, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with many, many dear friends, that she all loved very much.
Mom was predeceased by her baby boy Graham; parents John and Margaret Boucha; sister Ramona Arndt; brother Raymond Boucha; niece Susan Duguay (Arndt); and Darlene Wuenschel (Arndt).
Mom was born and raised in Kenora Ontario and chose nursing (LPN) as her career. Her and Dad were married on May 17, 1974 and at that time Mom put nursing aside for a while to look after her family.
In the early 1990's she upgraded and returned to her profession and worked many years at the Dryden District Hospital until difficulties with health forced her to leave the job she loved. Mom was such a caregiver and worked on the Geriatric ward of the hospital. She had such a great sense of humor and would use it to brighten the day of the folks she looked after and the co-workers she worked with. Even in recent years, she had a long list of elderly folks she would call on a regular basis to make sure they were doing ok, to give them some laughs and encouragement, even if Mom wasn't feeling well herself. She had a very generous and caring heart.
There's just so much more to say about Mom.
