Obituary of Joyce Catherine Miller

Peacefully, in the early morning hours of November 26, 2022 Joyce passed away at the Health Science Center. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Tamara (Jason) and step son Cameron Miller. Joyce was predeceased by loving husband Gary. No matter how sick Mom was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, she stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Mom loved to cook and bake. She had a large collection of cookbooks but preferred to make it up as she went along. Many excellent dishes were made, never to be recreated again. In the last year, she endured many health issues but she could still be found in the kitchen baking bread and biscotti. She was an animal lover, who had many dogs and cats over the years. Her last companion, Meiko, was always by her side. She would sit on the patio in the summer mornings, her with her coffee and Meiko with his breakfast, enjoying the sunrise. Mom always made sure she had lots of special treats for our dogs when they came over to visit. Mom had a lot of friends, many of whom she made at the Sherbrook dialysis unit where she dialyzed for the last 12 years. Dialysis was not something she enjoyed but she did enjoy the camaraderie she shared with the nurses, doctors and fellow patients. A special thank you to Marie France, who went above and beyond as a friend, especially in the last year. In lieu of flowers, if you chose, a donation may be made to an animal charity of your choice. In accordance with Mom’s wishes, no service will be held. We love you Mom.
