Anna Cyr

Obituary of Anna Cyr

It is with heartfelt sadness the family of Anna Cyr announces the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grannie, and baba at the young age of 71. Left to mourn Anna’s passing are her children Traci (Richard) Henzel, Dallas (Kari) Klassen; grandchildren Keaton (Jilian), Kolran (Jennifer), Danika (Jenn), Jordan, Keanan; great-grandchildren Scarlet and Greyson. Anna was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Cyr in 2016; and her parents Ilko and Catherine Halabut. Anna was born on October 21, 1951 in Caracus, Venezuela and immigrated into Canada at a very young age. Anna took great pride in some of her past work experience including Betel Home. That led her into becoming involved with unions and finding a new passion for politics with the NDP. Eventually she started a new career path in Real Estate. Later Anna spent decades taking care of her loved ones, including her elderly parents and then later her husband. She gave up her fun summer days at the cabin in Poplar Bay and move to the city to be closer to her children and grandchildren, but found new fun, including becoming a social club member of her block, running Christmas drives, playing or calling bingo, as well as card nights, making many new friends along the way, (Special thanks to Helen). Anna was very excited to learn of extended family through DNA testing, fairly recently, forming an unbreakable bond and friendship ever since. Anna will be remembered for her infectious laugh as well as her regular visits to stealthily drop items off on the door steps of her loved ones. Mom, Grannie you are truly loved and missed. You left us way too soon, but we are grateful that you are no longer suffering and in pain. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.... Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. In honour of Anna’s wishes, no funeral service will be held, and cremation has taken place. VICHNAYA PAMYAT
