I am so sorry to hear of Rosalie’s passing. Things I remember about my aunt: her beautiful smile; how she was always interested in what I was doing; fun filled days at the cottage - swimming, boating, hiking, berry picking; her knowledge of plants and nature; how she always gave me a big hug when I saw her; and most recently, connecting with me through her letters. She was a strong woman with a big heart. My condolences to Jim, Bill and Gord. Love from Janine

Rosalie was a valued volunteer for me in the Botany Dept. and Betsy Thorsteinson in the Production Dept. at the Manitoba Museum. She first contacted me to try to get her son Bill on some of our field trips, which was not possible because of their physical difficulty, but went on to become a long term volunteer who helped mount many plant specimens and count many orchids and other plants for me in the field. She was a life-long learner and always so nice to have around.

My parents lived across the backlane from the Hopper family for many years. I will always remember Rosalie’s big smile and warm greeting and the happy times we shared together. My sincere condolences to all the family. It is hard to lose your mother but I am sure she is so happy to be reunited with husband Cy.

To the family,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. My grandmother and mother’s name was also DeCock, and although I can’t recall the details of the family chain, I do believe we are related. Rosalie and Cy were frequent visitors to the family home in East Kildonan, and as a child I always anticipated some sweet goodies from Rosalie, who we kids called ‘auntie’. My parents were Sandy and Laura Donald.
That’s a lovely photo and how I remember her.
Please take good care of each other,
Sincerely,
Rennie (Donald) Bodi
