Obituary of Debbie Joanne Turchen
It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of Debbie Turchen of Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 4, 2023.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Jasen; sister Florence; nieces Robin (Gabe), Tammy (Milenko) and Charlene (Mike); along with other family and many friends.
Debbie is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Nell Turchen (Barta); sisters Joan and Helen; and niece Shelley.
After living in Calgary for many years with her sister Helen her son Jasen was born. She was employed as a waitress at Nick’s Restaurant then returned to Winnipeg and graduated as a HCA where she spent many years caring for her father and others.
Debbie was a caring and loving mother and dedicated friend. As a child she was involved in basketball, volleyball, and ice skating. Her most cherished memories were of the time spent at the family cottage in Sandy Hook with her father, son Jasen, and other family members.
Her numerous interests were entertaining for family on special occasions, and her gift for baking for family and friends was evident. She showcased many interests and hobbies such as crafting, art, crocheting, and knitting. Debbie was also an avid dog lover, and will be sadly missed by her dog Buddy.
Travelling was another passion that she really enjoyed with her dad at Radium Hot Springs. Most recently she was looking forward to an upcoming trip to the Yukon with her close friend Angie.
Providing as a mother was her biggest pride of joy, where she would do anything and everything for her son Jasen. Debbie touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to honour her passing, and Debbie will be laid to rest with her father and sister.
